Acrylic Painter
Luz Rivera, who prefers to go by the pseudonym LZR, is an artist blending Mexican heritage with American upbringing. Born in Coyoacan, Mexico, and raised in Wilson, North Carolina, she's making waves in the art world. Self-taught, LZR specializes in hardwood paintings, drawing inspiration from Expressionism and Post-Impressionism. Her work bursts with meaningful, colorful snapshots of the world, reflecting her belief that art is a universal language. From local galleries to cafes, LZR's vibrant pieces captivate audiences, bridging cultures with each brushstroke.
My Canvas
I specialize in acrylic on hardwood and canvas. I love using bright colors.
While I've experimented in different mediums, I keep coming back to the acrylics. I love the flexibility of the medium. With my artwork, I am compelled to take a bright and imaginative spin on realistic images. Working with shapes and bold, warm colors brings forth the subject in the painting to entrance the viewer. From beautiful landscapes, brightly colored animals, and magical moments captured on photographs, I see and feel an emotion in them that I just have to recreate.

Artist Statement
"Born in Coyoacan, Mexico, and nurtured in the vibrant community of Wilson, North Carolina, I, LZR, embarked on a colorful journey of self-discovery through art. While briefly studying at the University of Mount Olive Fine Arts program, my true education came from the canvas itself, as I explored the depths of my creativity and honed my craft as a primarily self-taught artist.
Balancing roles as a massage therapist and an insurance account representative, I find solace and inspiration in the act of painting. Each brushstroke is a moment of respite—a chance to disconnect from the chaos of the world and reconnect with the peace and serenity that art provides. In a world filled with uncertainty and disheartenment, I believe that art has the power to uplift and inspire, bringing smiles to minds and hearts alike.
Through my artwork, I strive to take a bright and imaginative spin on realistic images, infusing them with vibrant colors and whimsical flair. From enchanting landscapes to playful animals, each piece is a snapshot of my unique perspective on the world—a celebration of life, love, and the beauty that surrounds us.
As I share my art with the world, my ultimate hope is to not only bring joy to others but also to sustain my passion by sharing and selling my work. Art, to me, is more than just a creative outlet—it's a way of expressing one's view of the world, one bold and colorful brushstroke at a time."

Connecting to the present and exposing the magic in mundane moments is what I present to viewers with my pieces. By using unconventional color schemes to capture the eye and displaying these vivid hues on big pieces of hardwood, I am able to convert a small inconsequential image into a larger than life moment.
